Paddy Power Junior Shield
Greenwell Star 2 v 0 Waveney Swifts
Star had Ballymena side Waveney as their visitors last Saturday in the 3rd round of the junior shield. Greenwell had themselves in front after 20secs as centre forward Jonny Heron put the ball in the net from the edge of the box. One minute later the Waveney keeper made a mess of trying to dribble the ball out of his area and that let striker Heron rob him of the ball and knock home his and Greenwells second goal. The Ballymena side battled very hard to get back into the game but Hobson, Foster and Creaney were solid at the back with keeper McGibbon behind them in fine form. When the second half got underway the rain came down heavy and made the pitch very slippy but this did not stop Man Of The Match Michael McKeown driving his team on setting up Steele and Heron with chances but the visiting keeper was making up for his earlier mistake with some tremendous saves. Star had a great chance to go 3 up when Chris Eve was guilty of putting his header over the bar from 2 yards out from a Crawford corner. 16 year old Robbie Irvine who came on for the last 25 minutes showed great potential and courage as he attacked the Waveneys defence and was unlucky not to score in the final minutes. Overall Star were happy to move into the next round where they will face Rushlight Celtic.
Next game 3rd Dec away to Vision Athletic
